Dental Crowns Fremont California Dr James Block DDSIf you want a smile that’s your crowning glory, you may need a crown to cover a tooth and restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown can make your tooth stronger and improve its appearance.

What are Dental Crowns?

Dental Crowns are essentially tooth covers that support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth left. It can be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already broken. A crown is a good way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped. It’s also used to cover a dental implant.

crown covers the portion of a tooth that extends above the gum line, whereas inlays and onlays fit into a tooth, much like a filling.Crowns, inlays, and onlays are made in a dental lab, so they require two visits for the complete procedure.

If Dr Block recommends a crown, it’s probably to correct one of these conditions. Dr Blocks primary concern, like yours, is helping you keep your teeth healthy and your smile bright

Porcelain Crowns, Inlays, & Onlays

When a tooth incurs structural damage, like significant decay, a fracture, or a chip, you’ll experience pain. Dr. Block can repair such a tooth with a porcelain or metal crown, inlay, or onlay. To preserve your beautiful smile, we prefer to place esthetic restorations, like Empress crowns, on teeth that show when you smile. However, in areas of intense pressure, like on molars, porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) or metal restorations may be necessary.
