Dr. James Block remakes smiles with stunning porcelain veneers in his Fremont office. Individually crafted from fine ceramic, these translucent shells remake chipped, cracked, gapped or heavily stained teeth. The veneering process takes just two visits to James Block Dentistry. They could be the cosmetic treatment you need for your best smile ever.
Do You Qualify for Porcelain Veneers?
When you schedule a cosmetic dentistry consultation with Dr. Block, he first will examine your teeth and gums to ensure your mouth is healthy. Then, he will discuss your smile goals with you. Do you wish to eliminate the gap between your two front teeth? Is there a chip and a hairline crack on two other teeth?
Porcelain veneers can cover these defects with a thin shell of translucent porcelain. Permanently bonded in place, veneers remake tooth shape, size, and even alignment. Just tell Dr. Block what you would like to change, and he will take oral impressions and X-rays to formulate a treatment plan perfect for your smile goals.
Then, the veneers will be custom-crafted at a trusted dental lab by a master ceramist. Veneers are not a cookie-cutter refurbishment, but rather, are individually and artistically crafted to complement your smile and facial features.
The Veneer Process
Dr. Block carefully removes enamel from the front of each tooth to receive a veneer. This is a comfortable process and is done with local anesthesia. Then, your dentist in Fremont takes oral impressions and places temporary veneers to cover your teeth until the permanent ones are placed.
In a week or two, you return to the dental office and receive your new veneers. Dr. Block uses a special bonding adhesive which can be varied in color to achieve the right natural look. He hardens the adhesive with a special curing light and also adjusts the veneers for best fit and bite.
Typically, it takes patients a few days to become accustomed to how their veneers feel. However, the adjustment to how your appearance will be instantaneous. Patients really love how their new smiles make them look and feel years younger, and they are no longer embarrassed to smile or laugh in public.
Caring for Porcelain Veneers
With good care, your porcelain veneers should last 10 to 15 years or beyond. Dr. Block and his team recommend the following practices:
- Brush twice daily with a soft brush and non-abrasive toothpaste
- Floss once a day to remove plaque
- Get six-month check-ups and cleanings as usual with Dr. Block
- Wear a mouthguard during sports and a nightguard if you are a teeth grinder
- Treat your veneers–and all your teeth–gently by not opening packages with your teeth, chewing ice cubes or eating peanut brittle or taffy
You can improve your smile aesthetics with porcelain veneers. Contact James Block Dentistry today to arrange your consultation.
